  • Research your new market. You may need to target specific fields/people.
  • Follow the industry-standard for writing cover letters (in tone etc.).
  • Include your new contact information.
  • Include your own contact information even if you have an Australian agent (you may include theirs' as well).
  • Include your new agent/manager's contact details instead of (or as well as) your Australian agent's.
  • Mention how long you'll be the city so people can try and meet with you in that time. If you're relocating permanently, it may be worth mentioning it so that people know that you are serious about the move and will be around if they want to book you some time down the track.
  • If you're going to pretend to be American (for example), you may need to explain any Australian credits/training you have told the person about (or included in your biography).
  • People will want to know that you are already/will be active in the industry. Be sure to mention what training you are currently taking/have enrolled in there and any work you have done/lined up there.
  • Mention if you are fluent in the language (if other than English) in your cover letters.
  • If necessary, have your letters translated (may need to be done by a professional).
